Biography
From South / East London, Cloud Studies was formed in 2024 and comprises of Adam Cresswell (of Saloon & Rodney Cromwell), graphic designer Martin J Langthorne on guitar, Adrian Taylor on guitar and Kirstin Isolde Lavender on vocals. The catalyst for their forming was that Adam and Martin needed something to do with the vast array of effects pedals that had amassed.
Their first single 'Ghosts' was released to quiet acclaim for in October 2024. Inspired by the nostalgic and hauntological eeriness of the Usborne book The World of the Unknown: Ghosts, the track introduced listeners to the band’s distinctive blend of melancholy and melody. Resonating with influencers, the song’s halloween timed release saw it quickly amassing well over a million views on Instagram Reels and TikTok. Their follow-up single, 'Cloud Cartography', arrived in early 2025 and took a more expansive direction, drawing from the stark beauty of the Derryveagh Mountains in Ireland, it maps emotional terrain as much as geographical. Both singles have been championed by music blogs for their immersive textures and evocative songwriting.
Following the release of a remix of 'Ghosts' by iconic and enigmatic Michigan dreampop band, Auburn Lull, the band's third single 'Dreams About' is released on 5th September 2025.
